About Me

With 18 years of teaching Pilates and 27 years of teaching Dance and Movement, I have a vast amount of experience and knowledge to draw from.
I trained in Contemporary Dance and Education at the world famous Trinity Laban, London in the mid 80’s and taught within the community in Devon, London, Suffolk and Hertfordshire. I taught BTEC and HND Performing Arts (Dance) at Amersham and Wycombe College, Bucks and at The Arts Educational School, Tring, Herts, I taught Creative Movement to students throughout the school and A Level Performing Arts.
I then retrained in Pilates at Tring Pilates Studio, Herts, affiliated to the Alan Herdman Studio, London. The year long course covered both Mat work and all Studio equipment. I am qualified and experienced in helping clients in rehabilitation from surgery, chronic conditions, pre/postnatal, hyper mobility, scoliosis, clients with disabilities, breast cancer rehab and many others.
I have worked with professional dancers, triathletes, horse riders and a few celebrities!
My love of movement continues with taking regular Feldenkrais classes, Yoga lessons, Dance of Awareness group sessions and I am beginning a short foundation course on Dance Movement Psychotherapy.
I place huge importance in my own Pilates practice and wellbeing. I attend regular Sound Baths and have 1:1 sound healing therapy. Meditating, massage and facial reflexology are important too.
I love to visit Art Galleries and Artisans Studios and watch live Dance performances. I am an amateur photographer (Instagram: @hjgardner_) I will always have fresh flowers in the house but best of all, I love to sit outside, where I can overlook open fields and woods, watching the sunset and sink into the silence.
I hold an up to date First Aid certificate.
I am fully insured.
